Kerry works with the children on fine-tuning their sound maps. Then she gives them something of a loop-station masterclass - they all sing beautifully and get hold of the technique really quickly.

The island of Foula currently has only one child in the school there. Fair Isle School have arranged for him to fly out with his teacher Jayne and join the project for the rest of the week. They arrive towards the end of the morning, and plunge straight in.

Meanwhile Roderick, Stuart, Daniel and Clare are rehearsing the Messiaen Quartet for the End of Time in the hall - so happy to be together in their music. Zack sits in to listen, fascinated by the rehearsal process, and towards lunchtime Kerry brings the children in and they too have a listen to the first movement, all eyes and ears, soaking it in.

They are introduced to the instruments - Daniel gives them some in-depth notes on his violin (an instrument they are already familiar with, as Fair Isle has had its own violin-maker citizens as well as many gigs in the Shetland fiddling tradition), Clare her cello, Stuart his clarinet, Roderick the piano.

In the afternoon Zack takes the group (now with added adults) down to the Kro Stack for wild sculpting. He instructs them to search for objects on the beach to sculpt with and then tutors them in how to sculpt with wire and found objects. The session is a lot of fun, and the results are impressive.
