Early start for the new travel plan, and farewells in the beautiful morning light. 07:30 Good Shepherd from Fair Isle North Haven to Grutness, wrapped up in “boat coats” - which also work as floatation devices - so wonderfully looked after by the crew. A taxi to take us 5 minutes to Sumburgh Airport just round the corner, Clare caught doing a spot of airport yoga, 12:30 plane from Sumburgh to Edinburgh. We take a tram to close by Waverley, where we settle in for a leisurely lunch, a lovely occasion to round off the week, then hop on the 17:00 train to Kings Cross.
London feels too noisy, smelly and slightly overwhelming when we arrive... and why don't we know everyone's names??
The Fair Isle way of being lingers with us. It was a week of life lived from the heart - creatively, collaboratively, well... a huge thank you to all those Fair Islers and visitors who took part!
Farewell Fair Isle, till the next time…
