SINGING THROUGH PUPPETS
WORKSHOPS

5 days of hands-on workshops for opera singers
exploring singing through puppets

28 April - 2 May 2014

Union Chapel Islington

Opera and puppetry are fast becoming the best of friends.

As part of ongoing R&D into a production of Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream with puppets, this week of exploration was led by director, choreographer & puppet director Will Tuckett. There were five days of hands-on workshops with professional opera singers and some of the UK's leading puppeteers and directors, including Sue Buckmaster (Artistic Director Theatre-Rites), Mark Down (Artistic Director Blind Summit - A Dog's Heart Complicité/ENO, Magic Flute Bregenz) and Mervyn Millar (Signficant Object & Associate Puppet Director on War Horse) with the added expertise of vocal coach John Evans.
