Intimate Letters
Leoš Janáček
String Quartet no.1 Kreutzer Sonata
String Quartet no.2 Intimate Letters

"You stand behind each note, you, living, forceful, loving. The fragrance of your body, the glow of your kisses... those notes of mine kiss all of you. They call for you passionately" Leoš Janáček

An evening of amazingly humanitarian string quartets by Leoš Janáček, brought to life by readings from Tolstoy's novella The Kreutzer Sonata and Janáček's own love letters. Janáček's first string quartet was inspired by Tolstoy's novel of the same name, and his second "manifesto on love" was influenced by his long and spiritual friendship with Kamila Stösslova, a married woman, 38 years his junior.

CHROMA musicians Dave Le Page (violin) and Clare O'Connell (cello) are joined by Cathy Leech (violin), Vanessa McNaught (viola) and Angie Wallis (narrator) to bring you a magical evening of storytelling and music.
